विष्णूत्पत्तिवर्णनम्
Description of the Origin/Manifestation of Viṣṇu
एतस्मिन्नंतरे वाणी समुत्पन्ना शिवाच्छुभा । तपः पुनः प्रकर्त्तव्यं संशयस्यापनुत्तये
etasminnaṃtare vāṇī samutpannā śivācchubhā | tapaḥ punaḥ prakarttavyaṃ saṃśayasyāpanuttaye
Just then, an auspicious voice arose from Śiva: “Perform austerity once again, so that your doubt may be dispelled.”
Lord Shiva (as a divine voice/ākāśavāṇī) as reported by Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: teaching
It teaches that when doubt (saṃśaya) obstructs spiritual progress, Śiva’s grace directs the seeker back to tapas—steady discipline that purifies the mind and makes truth self-evident.
The “voice from Śiva” reflects Saguna Śiva’s compassionate guidance; in practice, devotees approach this guidance through Linga-upāsanā—worship with mantra, purity, and disciplined observances that mature into inner certainty.
Renewed tapas: take a vrata (especially on Mondays or Mahāśivarātri), repeat the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and support it with simple disciplines like bhasma/tripuṇḍra, rudrākṣa, and focused japa to remove mental doubt.
