नारदस्य विष्णूपदेशवर्णनम् — Nārada and Viṣṇu: Instruction after Delusion
Intoxicated by pride and delusion, you treated Śiva’s words as false. Therefore, He—who dispenses the fruits of deeds—has granted you precisely such a result, in accordance with your karma.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Purana to the sages, conveying the doctrinal point that Shiva dispenses karmic results)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Īśāna
It teaches that pride and delusion distort truth, and that Śiva, as the righteous Lord, administers karmic results exactly in accordance with one’s actions—urging humility, faith, and alignment with dharma.
Saguna Śiva (worshipped as the Liṅga) is affirmed here as the compassionate yet just Lord who governs karma; worship becomes a means to purify ego and delusion so one does not oppose Śiva’s guidance.
A practical takeaway is daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with repentance and humility, optionally with vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa, to reduce mada (pride) and moha (delusion).
