संध्याचरित्रवर्णनम् (Sandhyā-caritra-varṇana) — “Account of Sandhyā’s Story”
Thus, steady your mind in this way, set aside worldly desire, and contemplate Śaṅkara. When He is pleased with you, He will swiftly grant your cherished aim.
Sati (instructing about devotion to Śiva within the Satīkhaṇḍa narrative)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Highlights the Siddhānta logic: effort (citta-ekāgratā, vairāgya) prepares, but fruition comes when Śiva is ‘prasanna’—grace as the decisive cause.
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: teaching
It teaches that Śiva’s grace arises from one-pointed inner contemplation; when the mind is placed on Śaṅkara and desire is purified, the devotee’s true aim—worldly welfare or liberation—is granted swiftly by His compassion.
The verse emphasizes Saguna contemplation—meditating on Śaṅkara as a personal Lord. In Śaiva practice this inner dhyāna complements external worship such as Liṅga-pūjā, where the devotee focuses mind and devotion on Śiva’s manifest, gracious form.
A direct practice of dhyāna: fix the mind and contemplate Śaṅkara regularly. This can be paired with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and steady devotional worship to seek Śiva’s prasāda (grace).
