भक्तिभेदाः—ज्ञानप्रधानभक्तेः प्रशंसा
Grades of Devotees and the Praise of Knowledge-Centered Devotion
मत्परः पूजयेद्देवान् सर्वानपि विचक्षणः । स ज्ञानं लभते येन मुक्तिर्भवति शाश्वती
matparaḥ pūjayeddevān sarvānapi vicakṣaṇaḥ | sa jñānaṃ labhate yena muktirbhavati śāśvatī
A discerning devotee, intent on Me, may worship all the gods; by that he attains the true knowledge through which everlasting liberation arises.
Lord Shiva (teaching within the Sati Khanda narrative)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Legitimizes worship of multiple deities when anchored in Śiva-paratva (matparaḥ), framing it as a means to jñāna and mokṣa rather than sectarian competition.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that when worship is anchored in Shiva as the Supreme (Pati), devotion matures into liberating knowledge (jñāna) that culminates in enduring moksha.
It supports Saguna worship as a valid means: honoring various deities is acceptable when done with Shiva as the inner goal, which aligns with Linga-upāsanā as focused devotion leading to realization.
Perform regular pūjā with Shiva-centered intent—ideally Linga worship—supported by japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as the inner orientation that turns worship into knowledge-bearing practice.
