O sage, entering His own Māyā—made of the guṇas—the Supreme Lord assumes the functional names suited to action, as He creates, protects, and withdraws the universe.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: creative
It teaches that Shiva remains the Supreme Pati, yet for cosmic governance He operates through His own guṇa-based Māyā, taking on functional roles for creation, preservation, and dissolution without being ultimately limited by them.
The Linga is worshipped as the one Lord who manifests as Saguna for the world’s order—appearing with names and functions—while still pointing devotees to His transcendence beyond Māyā and the guṇas.
Meditate on Shiva as the inner ruler of all three states—creation, protection, dissolution—while japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) steadies the mind beyond guṇa-driven fluctuations.
