उत्पातवर्णनम् / Description of Portents at Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
हाहापि नोत्र ये मूढास्तव देवादयस्थिताः । तेषामपि महादुःखं भविष्यति न संशयः
hāhāpi notra ye mūḍhāstava devādayasthitāḥ | teṣāmapi mahāduḥkhaṃ bhaviṣyati na saṃśayaḥ
“Alas! Those deluded ones who stand here on your side—Devas and others—will also fall into great sorrow; of this there is no doubt.”
Daksha (in the context of the Satī narrative, warning/condemning those aligned against his stance)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Rudra
Cosmic Event: Extension of the oracle from Dakṣa to his faction—collective karmic fallout around the yajña
The verse highlights that delusion (mūḍhatā) and ego-driven alignment lead inevitably to mahāduḥkha. In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, ignorance (āṇava/avidyā) veils right discernment, and actions rooted in it ripen as suffering until one turns toward Shiva with humility and devotion.
Within the Satī–Daksha context, the verse underscores the danger of rejecting Shiva’s worship—especially the honoring of Shiva in saguna forms such as the Linga. Disrespect toward Shiva and his devotees is portrayed as spiritually ruinous, whereas reverent Linga-bhakti restores dharma and inner clarity.
The practical takeaway is to counter delusion with steady Shiva-bhakti: daily japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), respectful worship of the Shiva-Linga, and a humility-based discipline (often supported by Tripuṇḍra bhasma and Rudrākṣa as reminders of surrender and discernment).
