दक्षयज्ञे मुनिदेवसमागमः / The Gathering of Sages and Gods at Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
मुनौ विनिर्गते तस्मिन् मखादन्येषु दुष्टधीः । शिवद्रोही मुनीन् दक्षः प्रहसन्निदमब्रवीत्

When that sage had departed, and the other participants had also left the sacrificial arena, Dakṣa—of wicked understanding and hostile to Śiva—laughed and spoke these words to the sages.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Dakṣa-yajña episode to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It highlights the spiritual danger of śiva-droha—contempt for Śiva and His devotees. In Shaiva Siddhānta, such arrogance veils right understanding and leads to downfall, whereas humility and reverence toward Pati (Śiva) and His bhaktas purify the soul.
Dakṣa’s hostility foreshadows rejection of Śiva’s worship (including Liṅga-upāsanā) as inferior. The narrative teaches that honoring Saguna Śiva (the accessible, worshipful form) with devotion is essential; scorning Him invites spiritual and karmic consequences.
The takeaway is to avoid offense and cultivate devotion: daily pañcākṣarī-japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with reverence for Śiva and respect for sādhus; if one has erred, perform repentance (kṣamā-prārthanā) and worship with bhasma/Tripuṇḍra as a reminder of humility.
