Even if she does not go far, she draws near with deliberate effort; that lotus-eyed lady then follows after them—those whose minds are being drawn away—keeping to their rear.

The verse highlights the power of focused devotion: even without outward distance or dramatic action, sincere inner effort draws the devotee close and keeps awareness aligned with the chosen divine ideal—an essential Shaiva theme of steadiness of mind.
In Saguna Shiva-bhakti, the mind repeatedly ‘follows’ Shiva through remembrance, praise, and ritual attention; the verse mirrors this principle—staying close through intentional approach, not merely physical movement—supporting Linga-upasana as sustained inner orientation.
It suggests deliberate japa and smarana: repeating the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady attention so the mind does not get pulled outward, but remains ‘following behind’ the divine presence through continuous remembrance.
