Then Satī, composing her modesty, spoke to Hara (Lord Śiva): “O Bestower of boons, grant me a boon according to Your will—one that none can obstruct or prevent.”
Sati
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Mantra: yatheṣṭaṃ dehi varada varam ity anivārakam
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
It highlights the Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on Śiva’s grace (anugraha): Satī seeks a boon aligned with Śiva’s will and free from obstruction, implying that what is grounded in the Lord’s intent becomes spiritually unshakable.
Calling Śiva “Varada” reflects Saguna worship—approaching the compassionate, boon-giving Lord through prayer. In Linga worship, devotees similarly request steadfast bhakti and removal of impediments, trusting the Linga as the accessible form of the Supreme.
A practical takeaway is sankalpa (a clear vow) offered to Śiva before japa—especially of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—praying that devotion and dharma remain anivāraka (unobstructed) amid life’s challenges.
