Brahmā said: “Thus having spoken, O best of sages, Himavān, king of mountains, and Menakā, their minds made pure, remained there—watching for the fruit of Pārvatī’s test of resolve and austerity.”
Brahma
Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse frames Himavān and Menakā witnessing Pārvatī’s tapas as a ‘test’ whose fruit will be Śiva’s grace and the restoration of cosmic order through the divine marriage.
Significance: Models the Śaiva Siddhānta emphasis that purity of intention (śuddha-citta) and steadfastness in discipline prepare the paśu (bound soul) to receive anugraha (grace).
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
It highlights śuddha-citta (purity of mind) and patient witnessing of tapas: spiritual fruition is not forced but ripens through steadfast discipline and inner clarity, culminating in Shiva’s grace.
Pārvatī’s “test” points to focused devotion toward Saguna Shiva—devotion and austerity purify the heart so the devotee becomes fit for Shiva’s presence, often expressed in Purāṇic practice through Linga-worship and sustained vrata.
The verse implies steady vrata and tapas supported by mental purity—practically expressed as daily japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), simple disciplined living, and calm perseverance while awaiting the spiritual ‘fruit’ without impatience.
