Then that radiant being shone forth—surpassing his former splendor—an invincible mass of spiritual fire, like the sacred flame itself, and great-souled in nature.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
The verse highlights the manifestation of divine tejas—an invincible, purifying radiance—signifying Shiva’s supreme power (Pati) that cannot be overcome by worldly bonds (pāśa) and that uplifts the soul toward clarity and liberation.
The Linga is revered as the visible sign of Shiva’s limitless light and presence. Describing a concentrated “mass of brilliance” supports Saguna worship: devotees contemplate Shiva’s radiant form as a doorway to realizing His transcendent (nirguṇa) reality.
Meditate on Shiva as inner fire (tejas) while repeating the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and, if practiced, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as a reminder that Shiva’s radiance burns away impurity and ego.
