It teaches inner purity (saddhī) expressed as disciplined perception: ethical restraint begins in the mind, and such restraint supports dharma and steadiness in devotion within the householder path.
Saguna Shiva worship is upheld by conduct aligned with dharma; controlling desire and maintaining purity of vision makes the devotee fit for mantra-japa and reverent Linga worship without hypocrisy.
Practice mental niyama alongside devotion: daily Panchākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and mindful restraint of the senses, cultivating the habit of seeing others through the lens of reverence and kinship.
