पार्वत्याः यात्रासंस्कारः तथा पातिव्रत्योपदेशः / Preparations for Girijā’s Auspicious Journey and the Teaching on Pātivratya
तारः पतिश्श्रुतिर्नारी क्षमा सा स स्वयन्तपः । फलम्पतिः सत्क्रिया सा धन्यौ तौ दम्पती शिवे
tāraḥ patiśśrutirnārī kṣamā sā sa svayantapaḥ | phalampatiḥ satkriyā sā dhanyau tau dampatī śive
In Śiva’s sacred way, the husband is “tāra,” a saviour, and the wife is “śruti” itself; she is forbearance, and he is self-austerity. He is the fruit of life, she is righteous conduct; blessed indeed is that couple in Śiva.

It presents the Śaiva ideal of household life: liberation-oriented dharma where the wife embodies śruti and kṣamā (sacred wisdom and forgiveness) and the husband embodies tapas (disciplined inner effort), making the marriage itself a support for devotion to Śiva.
By calling the couple ‘blessed in Śiva,’ the verse frames family virtues as offerings to Saguna Śiva—ethical living, restraint, and mutual support become a lived pūjā that prepares the mind for Linga-worship and Śiva-bhakti.
Practice daily Śiva-smaraṇa with the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while cultivating kṣamā (forgiveness) and tapas (self-discipline); let satkriyā—pure conduct and simple Śiva-pūjā—be the couple’s shared sādhana.
