Dāna
शंकर उवाच । देव्यो न ब्रूत वचनमेवंभूतं ममान्तिकम् । जगतां मातरः साध्व्यः पुत्रे चपलता कथम्
śaṃkara uvāca | devyo na brūta vacanamevaṃbhūtaṃ mamāntikam | jagatāṃ mātaraḥ sādhvyaḥ putre capalatā katham
Śaṅkara said: “O goddesses, do not speak such words to me. You are the virtuous mothers of the worlds—how could there be fickleness toward your own son?”
Lord Shiva (Shankara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: teaching
Shiva restrains harmful speech and reminds the divine mothers that true dharma is steadiness, compassion, and protection—qualities that support inner purity and the path toward liberation.
As Saguna Shiva, Shankara models ideal conduct: measured speech and dharmic relationships. Linga-worship likewise trains the devotee to offer mind and speech into Shiva, cultivating steadiness rather than agitation.
Practice disciplined speech (mauna or mindful speech) while doing japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and offer a simple mental arghya to Shiva-Linga, resolving to avoid impulsive words and reactions.
