मेनावरलाभवर्णनम् — Description of Menā’s Attainment of Boons
and the worship leading to Umā’s advent
देव्युवाच । शतपुत्रास्सं भवन्तु भवत्या वीर्यसंयुताः । तत्रैको बलवान्मुख्यः प्रधमं संभविष्यति
devyuvāca | śataputrāssaṃ bhavantu bhavatyā vīryasaṃyutāḥ | tatraiko balavānmukhyaḥ pradhamaṃ saṃbhaviṣyati
The Goddess said: “May a hundred sons, endowed with heroic potency, be born to you. Among them, one—strong and foremost—shall be born first.”
Parvati (Devi)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
This verse highlights Devi’s śakti as the bestower of grace (anugraha) that fructifies destiny and dharma—showing that divine will, not mere human effort, ripens results such as lineage, strength, and rightful order.
In Shaiva understanding, Devi’s blessing operates inseparably with Shiva’s lordship (Pati). Worship of Saguna Shiva—often through the Linga—invokes the unified Shiva-Śakti principle by which boons, protection, and spiritual upliftment are granted.
The verse implies seeking divine grace through bhakti: regular Shiva-Linga pūjā with Panchakshara japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and respectful invocation of Devi as Shiva’s Śakti for auspiciousness and strength.
