At the end of twenty-seven years, Umā—Mother of the universe and pervader of the universe—became exceedingly pleased, for she longed for Śaṅkara (Śiva).

It highlights steadfast tapas and one-pointed devotion: the Universe-Mother (Umā) attains inner fulfillment by fixing her desire on Śaṅkara, showing that sincere bhakti and discipline mature into divine grace and union with Pati (Śiva).
Umā’s longing for Śaṅkara reflects Saguna-upāsanā—devotion to Śiva with attributes and form. In Shaiva practice, this is mirrored in Linga worship where the devotee’s focused love and reverence become the means to receive Śiva’s anugraha (grace).
A practical takeaway is sustained japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with vrata-like steadiness, supported by simple Shaiva marks such as Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa to reinforce remembrance of Śiva.
