अध्याय ४९ — विवाहानुष्ठाने ब्रह्मणः काममोहः
Brahmā’s Enchantment by Desire during the Wedding Rites
तज्ज्ञात्वा च महादेवश्चुकोपातीव नारद । हन्तुमैच्छत्तदा शीघ्रं वां विधिं काममोहितम्
tajjñātvā ca mahādevaścukopātīva nārada | hantumaicchattadā śīghraṃ vāṃ vidhiṃ kāmamohitam
O Nārada, when Mahādeva came to know of this, he flared up with intense anger and at once wished to swiftly slay that Vidhi (Brahmā), who had been deluded by Kāma (desire).

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse highlights kāma-moha (delusion by desire) as a binding pasha (bond) that can distort even high cosmic functions; Śiva, as Pati, restores dharma by subduing such delusion and re-establishing purity of intent.
It presents Saguna Śiva as the active Lord who protects dharma and disciplines desire; Linga-worship centers on approaching this same Lord for inner purification, so that kāma is transformed and the mind becomes fit for Śiva-jñāna.
The practical takeaway is kama-nigraha (restraint of desire) through japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” along with steady devotion and purity disciplines (such as bhasma-dhāraṇa/Tripuṇḍra where customary) to calm agitation and align with Śiva’s grace.
