अध्याय ४९ — विवाहानुष्ठाने ब्रह्मणः काममोहः
Brahmā’s Enchantment by Desire during the Wedding Rites
धन्या वयं महेशान तव दर्शनमात्रतः । दृढभक्तजनानन्दप्रदश्शम्भो दयां कुरु
dhanyā vayaṃ maheśāna tava darśanamātrataḥ | dṛḍhabhaktajanānandapradaśśambho dayāṃ kuru
O Maheśāna, we are truly blessed merely by receiving Your darśana. O Śambhu, giver of joy to steadfast devotees—show us Your compassion.
Parvati (addressing Lord Shiva)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: General darśana-māhātmya: mere vision of Śiva is said to confer puṇya and steadiness in bhakti; not tied here to a specific jyotirliṅga episode.
Significance: Darśana of Śiva (liṅga or mūrti) is framed as itself a blessing; prayer for dayā aligns with seeking anugraha that loosens pāśa (bondage).
Mantra: धन्या वयं महेशान तव दर्शनमात्रतः । दृढभक्तजनानन्दप्रदश्शम्भो दयां कुरु
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It declares that Shiva’s grace can flow through mere darśana, and that firm bhakti (steadfast devotion) naturally draws Śambhu’s compassion—central to Shaiva Siddhanta where liberation is ultimately granted by Pati (Shiva) through anugraha (divine grace).
The verse emphasizes accessible devotion through direct encounter (darśana) with Saguna Shiva—whether in the living presence of the Lord, in the Linga, or in consecrated worship—affirming that Shiva responds to sincere devotees with mercy and bliss.
Approach Shiva for darśana with steady bhakti—perform simple pūjā to the Shiva-linga, repeat the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and pray for dayā (compassion), as devotion is presented as the immediate means to receive Shiva’s grace.
