महेश्वरागमनं तथा नीराजन-सत्कारवर्णनम् / The Arrival of Maheśvara and the Rite of Welcome
Nīrājana
गिरिजोक्तमनुस्मृत्य मेना विस्मयमागता । मनसैव ह्युवाचेदं हर्षफुल्लाननाम्बुजा
girijoktamanusmṛtya menā vismayamāgatā | manasaiva hyuvācedaṃ harṣaphullānanāmbujā
Recalling what Girijā (Pārvatī) had said, Menā was filled with wonder. With her mind alone she spoke these words—her lotus-like face blossoming with joy.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Purāṇic account to the sages)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
It shows how remembrance (anusmṛti) of a devotee’s inspired words can transform the heart—Menā’s wonder and joy indicate an inner awakening to Śiva’s unfolding grace within the Pārvatī narrative.
Though the verse is narrative, it supports Saguna Śiva-bhakti: the household context of Pārvatī’s path toward Śiva highlights how divine forms and personal relationship with Śiva mature through devotion, trust, and auspicious recognition.
The key practice implied is contemplative remembrance (smaraṇa) and inward prayer—holding Śiva and His devotees’ teachings in the mind; this pairs naturally with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as an inner offering.
