One young woman, while dyeing her feet with red lac, heard a commotion; abandoning that at once, she came forward, eager to behold what had happened.

It highlights the spontaneous pull of darśana: when a soul (paśu) senses an auspicious Shiva-related occurrence, ordinary concerns are dropped and the mind turns toward direct witnessing—an early movement from worldly preoccupation toward devotion.
Though the Liṅga is not named in this line, the impulse to seek darśana mirrors Saguna-Shiva worship in the Purana—devotees hasten to behold the Lord’s sign, form, or holy event, trusting that sacred seeing purifies and awakens bhakti.
The takeaway is readiness for darśana and śravaṇa (hearing): on encountering Shiva-kathā or temple sounds, pause distractions, approach with reverence, and recollect the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to steady the mind.
