sanmānitānviśeṣeṇa maheśenāgatāñjanān | dṛṣṭvā suharṣitāñcchailo mumodātīva cetasi
Seeing the people who had arrived and were specially honored by Mahādeva (Maheśa), the Mountain Himālaya rejoiced exceedingly within his heart, filled with great joy.
Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga narrative; the verse depicts Himavān’s inner joy upon seeing those honored by Mahādeva—grace reflected in the devotee’s heart as prīti and utsāha.
Significance: Shows the fruit of contact with Śiva’s favor: when one’s community is ‘sanmānita’ by the Lord, the devotee experiences uplift and strengthened śraddhā.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
The verse highlights that when Mahādeva honors those who come under His auspicious presence, even the highest of beings (Himālaya) experiences inner upliftment—teaching that reverence to Śiva and His devotees purifies the heart and strengthens bhakti.
It reflects Saguna Śiva’s compassionate, relational nature: He actively blesses and honors devotees. In Linga-worship too, honoring Śiva through pūjā and honoring His devotees are complementary expressions of the same devotion.
Practice sevā and satkāra: welcome devotees, offer respectful hospitality, and mentally dedicate such acts to Śiva while repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” as an inner attitude of reverence.
