हिमालयस्य निर्णयः — शिवाय पार्वत्याः प्रदाने
Himālaya’s Resolution to Give Pārvatī to Śiva
अरुन्धती तदा तत्र मेनां सा सुसुखी मुदा । गुणैश्च लोभयामास शिवस्य परमा सती
arundhatī tadā tatra menāṃ sā susukhī mudā | guṇaiśca lobhayāmāsa śivasya paramā satī
Then, there, Arundhatī—joyful and at ease—gladdened Menā; and by speaking of Śiva’s virtues she drew Menā’s heart toward Him, for Arundhatī was a woman of supreme chastity and devotion.
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It highlights śravaṇa (devotional hearing) as a doorway to bhakti: by hearing Śiva’s guṇas from a pure-hearted devotee like Arundhatī, Menā’s mind becomes inclined toward Śiva, showing how grace often works through saintly association.
The verse emphasizes attraction through Śiva’s virtues—an approach typical of Saguna devotion, where the devotee contemplates the Lord’s auspicious qualities; this same guṇa-smaraṇa naturally supports Linga worship by focusing the mind on Śiva as the compassionate, liberating Pati (Lord).
Guṇa-kīrtana and śravaṇa: regularly listen to or recite Śiva-stotras and the Panchākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with devotion, cultivating a steady, virtue-focused remembrance of Lord Śiva.
