Linga-worship points to Shiva’s nirguna reality beyond material attributes; even when approached as saguna (with form and story), this verse reminds devotees that Shiva’s essence is untouched by worldly gain, guiding worship toward inner renunciation and liberation.
Cultivate vairāgya while repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offering simple worship (water, bilva) with the intent of dissolving craving rather than seeking worldly rewards.
