Then that deluded lord of the Daityas, scorned by the slender maiden, blazed with dreadful wrath and thereafter revealed to her a terrifying form.

It highlights how moha (delusion) and krodha (anger) arise when ego is wounded; in Shaiva Siddhanta these are pasha—bondages that veil the soul from Shiva’s grace and lead the asuric being toward further downfall.
The verse contrasts frightening, ego-driven displays of power with the stabilizing refuge of Saguna Shiva worship (Linga-upasana), where devotion disciplines passions like anger and turns the mind toward Shiva rather than reactive violence.
A practical takeaway is krodha-nigraha through japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and mindful restraint; calming the mind before worship helps prevent tamasic reactions from dominating one’s actions.
