Brāhmaṇī-Svargati-Varṇana: Account of a Brāhmaṇa Woman’s Ascent to Heaven
सा चाह पुनरेवात्र त्वया दृष्टं स्थलं च यत् । तत्राधुना क्षिपास्थीनि मातुः किं गम्यतेऽन्यतः
sā cāha punarevātra tvayā dṛṣṭaṃ sthalaṃ ca yat | tatrādhunā kṣipāsthīni mātuḥ kiṃ gamyate'nyataḥ
She said again: “This very place has been shown to you, and you have seen it. Now cast the Mother’s bones here—why should we go anywhere else?”

Significance: Asthi-kṣepa (consigning remains) at a divinely indicated spot is presented as a direct means to the departed’s uplift—tīrtha as Śiva’s chosen gateway rather than human preference.

The verse emphasizes faith in a sanctified tirtha: when a place is recognized as spiritually potent, actions done there—like respectfully consigning ancestral remains—are performed with focused devotion (bhakti) and trust in Shiva’s grace for auspicious passage.
Koṭirudrasaṃhitā commonly frames geography as Shiva’s manifest (saguṇa) presence through tirthas and Jyotirlinga-kṣetras. Choosing the revealed spot reflects reliance on Shiva’s tangible, compassionate manifestation in sacred space.
It points to antyeṣṭi-related observance: respectfully placing/immersing remains at a recognized holy site, accompanied by remembrance of Shiva—ideally with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a prayer for the departed’s peace.
