The Greatness of the Ghuśmeśa Jyotirlinga
स्वामिना चिंतितं यच्च तद्गृहीतं तया न हि । सुदेहया विमोहेन शिवेच्छासंभवेन वै
svāminā ciṃtitaṃ yacca tadgṛhītaṃ tayā na hi | sudehayā vimohena śivecchāsaṃbhavena vai
Whatever her lord had intended, she did not accept it, for in Sudehā delusion had arisen—truly born of Śiva’s own will.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Ishana
Significance: Highlights the Siddhānta principle that bondage (pāśa) includes moha/ajñāna; even delusion can operate under Īśvara’s niyati—prompting eventual maturation toward grace.
The verse highlights that human decisions can be overruled by moha (delusion) when it arises under the governance of Śiva’s icchā; spiritually, it points to the Shaiva Siddhanta view that bondage operates through obscuring forces, and clarity returns through Śiva’s anugraha (grace).
By attributing the turn of events to Śiva’s will, the verse supports Saguna Śiva devotion—seeing the Lord as an active, responsive ruler (Pati) who directs karma and circumstances; Linga worship cultivates surrender to that divine governance.
A practical takeaway is daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with bhakti and surrender, praying for removal of moha; optionally support it with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as reminders of Śiva’s grace-guided clarity.
