सूत उवाच । इत्याकर्ण्य वचस्तस्य गौतमस्य महात्मनः । सुप्रसन्नतरो भूत्वा शिवो वाक्यमुपाददे
sūta uvāca | ityākarṇya vacastasya gautamasya mahātmanaḥ | suprasannataro bhūtvā śivo vākyamupādade
Sūta said: Having thus heard the words of the great-souled Gautama, Lord Śiva—becoming even more gracious and fully pleased—then spoke in reply.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
The verse highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace): when a realized devotee like Gautama speaks with sincerity and dharma, Śiva becomes supremely pleased and responds—showing that divine revelation arises from devotion, humility, and truth.
Kotirudra Samhita commonly frames Śiva as approachable Saguna Bhagavān who responds to devotees. This verse supports the devotional stance behind Liṅga worship: the Lord is not distant—He listens, becomes pleased, and gives guidance.
The implied practice is śravaṇa and bhakti: listen to sacred discourse and approach Śiva with reverence. As a practical takeaway, recite the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with humility, seeking Śiva’s prasāda (gracious response).
