गौतमविघ्नप्रकरणम्
Episode of Obstacles to Gautama; Gaṇeśa’s Appearing Through Misguided Worship

Having said this, Gautama then departed from that place. Going a krośa away, with her permission he then established an āśrama there.

Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse narrates Gautama’s withdrawal and establishment of a new āśrama at a measured distance, a typical purāṇic marker of separation/liminality after a transgressive or ritually impure event.
It highlights dharmic restraint and disciplined renunciation: Gautama does not act impulsively, but relocates respectfully, establishing an āśrama as a space for tapas and Shiva-oriented living—supportive of inner purification (śuddhi) that leads the pashu toward the grace of Pati (Shiva).
Though the verse does not name the Liṅga directly, the Kotirudra context frames sacred geography and right conduct around holy sites; establishing an āśrama near (but at a proper distance) supports regular worship—pūjā, japa, and observances—directed to Saguna Shiva as accessible Lord and refuge.
The practical takeaway is āśrama-dharma: living with restraint, maintaining purity, and committing to daily sādhanā—especially Shiva-japa (e.g., Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), along with simple pūjā and disciplined tapas as appropriate to one’s stage of life.
