Kāmarūpeśvara’s Trial and Śiva’s Hidden Protection (कামरूपेश्वर-रक्षा-प्रसङ्गः)

Then, in an instant, the whole earth became agitated. At that time all the oceans heaved in turmoil, and even the mountains were shaken—revealing the overwhelming potency set in motion by Śiva’s cosmic will.

Cosmic Event: Localized pralaya-like upheaval (earth, oceans, mountains agitated)
The verse portrays nature’s sudden upheaval as a sign of the Supreme Lord Śiva (Pati) moving the cosmos; it reminds the devotee that all changing phenomena are under Śiva’s governance, urging refuge in His grace rather than fear of worldly instability.
Such cosmic signs commonly precede or accompany Śiva’s manifest presence (Saguna) for the sake of devotees; Linga-worship trains the mind to see the unshakable Reality of Śiva within the shifting world, turning awe into devotion.
A practical takeaway is to steady the mind with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and cultivate inner stillness—optionally supported by Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as aids to constant remembrance of Śiva amid life’s upheavals.
