Kāmarūpeśvara’s Trial and Śiva’s Hidden Protection (कামरूपेश्वर-रक्षा-प्रसङ्गः)
पुनश्चैव त्रिशूलं स्वं चिक्षिपे तेन रक्षसा । तच्छूलं शतधा नीतमपि दुष्टस्य शंभुना
punaścaiva triśūlaṃ svaṃ cikṣipe tena rakṣasā | tacchūlaṃ śatadhā nītamapi duṣṭasya śaṃbhunā
Then again that rākṣasa hurled his own trident. Yet Śambhu, subduing the wicked one, reduced that trident into a hundred pieces.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
The verse shows Śiva as Pati (the Supreme Lord) who neutralizes hostile forces; the breaking of the trident symbolizes the shattering of adharma and the fragmentation of ego-driven power that opposes dharma.
Though the Liṅga is the timeless sign of Śiva’s transcendence, this episode highlights Saguna Śiva—Śambhu acting in the world to protect cosmic order—encouraging devotees to rely on Śiva’s grace and guardianship.
A practical takeaway is to take refuge in Śiva through japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” contemplating that Śiva breaks inner ‘weapons’ of anger, pride, and cruelty just as he breaks outer weapons.
