Kāmarūpeśvara’s Trial and Śiva’s Hidden Protection
svānurūpāṃ pratijñāṃ sa satyaṃ caiva kariṣyati | satyapratijño bhagavāñchivaśceti śrutau śrutaḥ
He will indeed fulfill the vow that befits Him, and it shall surely come to pass. For the Vedas themselves proclaim that Bhagavān Śiva is “true to His pledge.”
Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
It establishes Shiva as satya-pratijña—his grace and commitments never fail—so the devotee can take refuge in him with steady faith, a key Shaiva Siddhanta orientation where Pati (Shiva) is the reliable liberator.
In Jyotirlinga-centered devotion, the Linga is approached as Saguna Shiva who responds to bhakti; this verse assures that Shiva’s visible, worshipful presence and his boons are not uncertain—his vow to protect and uplift devotees is dependable.
Practice vow-based devotion (vrata) with the Panchakshara mantra—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and maintain truthfulness (satya) in one’s own conduct, mirroring Shiva’s satya-pratijñā nature.
