Having then worshipped Śambhu continuously for six months, he did not move away from his place of austerity, being wholly devoted to meditation on Śiva.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Jyotirlinga: Oṃkāreśvara
Sthala Purana: Sustained six-month worship and immovable tapas at the Oṃkāra site intensify the devotee’s eligibility; steadfast dhyāna becomes the narrative cause for Śiva’s later self-revelation.
Significance: Teaches niṣṭhā (steadfastness) in japa-dhyāna and liṅga-upāsanā; pilgrims emulate prolonged sādhana at the Narmadā-kṣetra for purification and Śiva’s favor.
Role: teaching
It praises niṣṭhā (steadfastness): uninterrupted worship and one-pointed Śiva-dhyāna over time purify the soul (paśu) and draw the grace of Pati (Śiva), which is central to liberation in the Shaiva Siddhanta spirit.
The verse highlights continuous ārādhana of Śambhu—typically practiced through saguna upāsanā such as Liṅga-pūjā, japa, and dhyāna—until the mind becomes unwavering and fit for Śiva’s direct experience.
A disciplined routine of daily Shiva worship with sustained dhyāna—supported by japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and observances like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa—aimed at uninterrupted focus.
