Andhakeśvara-liṅga Māhātmya and Śiva’s Subjugation of Andhaka (अन्धकेश्वरलिङ्गमाहात्म्य तथा अन्धकवध-प्रसङ्ग)

That wondrous event which occurred through Śiva’s grace—listen to it with glad devotion. I shall recount it, just as I have heard it.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: liberating
It declares that the marvels and turning points in the Purāṇic narrative arise from Śiva’s anugraha (grace), emphasizing the Shaiva Siddhānta theme that liberation and true insight are ultimately bestowed by Pati (Śiva) rather than achieved by ego-driven effort alone.
By foregrounding Śiva’s grace as the cause behind extraordinary events, the verse prepares the listener to approach the Jyotirliṅga and other saguna manifestations of Śiva with receptive devotion (bhakti), trusting that worship becomes fruitful through His compassionate favor.
The direct practice implied is śravaṇa (devotional listening) with suprīti (loving attentiveness). As a Shaiva takeaway, one may listen/recite while remembering the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as an inner orientation to receive Śiva’s anugraha.
