sūta uvāca | ityuktvā tasya putrāśca catvāro baṭukāstadā | abhiṣiktāścaturdikṣu śivena paramātmanā
Sūta said: Having spoken thus, his four sons—then appearing as youthful Baṭukas—were consecrated in the four directions by Shiva, the Supreme Self.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It presents Shiva as Paramātman who establishes sacred order: by consecrating the four Baṭukas in the four directions, he sanctifies space itself and appoints divine protection, indicating that spiritual life is supported by Shiva’s grace and governance.
The act of abhiṣeka (consecration) reflects Saguna Shiva’s tangible, ritual-accessible presence—just as the Linga is approached through abhiṣeka, Shiva here actively confers authority and sanctity, showing how ritual and divine will cooperate.
It suggests the spirit of abhiṣeka and dik-bandhana (sanctifying/protecting the directions): during Shiva worship one may perform Linga-abhiṣeka and mentally offer salutations to Shiva in all four directions, reaffirming protection and inner steadiness.
