Andhakeśvara-liṅga Māhātmya and Śiva’s Subjugation of Andhaka
sa putro'pi hato bhāryāṃ puṃścalīṃ kṛtavāndrutam | paścāttāpamanuprāpya svapitrā paribhartsitaḥ
Even after having slain his own son, he quickly took a wife and made her a wanton. Later, when remorse arose within him, he was rebuked by his own father.

The verse highlights how grave adharmic acts lead to inner remorse and social-spiritual censure, implying that purification requires sincere repentance and turning toward Shiva as Pati, the liberator who severs pāśa (bondage) when one reforms.
In Kotirudrasaṃhitā the narrative arc commonly moves from moral collapse to seeking sanctification at Shiva’s Jyotirlinga; Saguna Shiva, worshiped as the Linga, is approached as the compassionate purifier who restores dharma when the devotee abandons wrongdoing.
A practical takeaway is prāyaścitta through Shiva-upāsanā: japa of the Panchākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), wearing Rudrākṣa with restraint in conduct, and applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as a daily reminder to renounce impure actions.
