Sannyāsa Maṇḍala Vidhi—Procedure for the Renunciate Mandala
पद्मस्येशानकोष्ठे तु तथा पद्मं समालिखेत् । कवर्गस्य तृतीयं तु पंचमस्वरसंयुतम्
padmasyeśānakoṣṭhe tu tathā padmaṃ samālikhet | kavargasya tṛtīyaṃ tu paṃcamasvarasaṃyutam
In the Īśāna compartment of the lotus, one should likewise draw the lotus-mark. There one should place the third letter of the “ka” group, joined with the fifth vowel, thus seating the mantra-syllable in its proper abode.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Ishana
Mantra: कवर्गस्य तृतीयं तु पंचमस्वरसंयुतम्
It teaches mantra-nyāsa through a lotus-diagram: the devotee places specific syllables in sacred directions (like Īśāna), disciplining mind and prāṇa so worship becomes an inner offering to Pati (Śiva) that loosens pāśa (bondage).
The lotus-seat and directional ‘koṣṭhas’ function as a ritual body for Saguna worship—mapping Śiva’s powers and directions—so the devotee approaches the Liṅga not only externally but also through an ordered inner mandala of mantra.
Drawing/visualizing a lotus-mandala and installing a specified mantra-syllable in the Īśāna (northeast) seat—i.e., a form of mantra-nyāsa used alongside japa and meditative visualization during Śiva-pūjā.
