Sannyāsa Maṇḍala Vidhi—Procedure for the Renunciate Mandala
कुर्यात्सुधूम्रं दण्डं च धवलं चेश्वरं बुधः । एवं यंत्रं समालिख्य रक्तं सद्येन वेष्टयेत्
kuryātsudhūmraṃ daṇḍaṃ ca dhavalaṃ ceśvaraṃ budhaḥ | evaṃ yaṃtraṃ samālikhya raktaṃ sadyena veṣṭayet
A wise practitioner should fashion the staff (daṇḍa) in a fine smoke-grey hue and depict the Lord Īśvara (Śiva) as white. Having thus carefully drawn this sacred yantra, he should immediately wrap it with a red cloth.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a jyotirliṅga narrative; it is a practical upāsanā-vidhi: yantra-lekhana followed by veṣṭana (wrapping), a common consecratory gesture in ritual manuals.
Significance: Emphasizes correct preparation (saṃskāra) of a sacred support (yantra) for worship—seen as enabling focused devotion and receptivity to grace (anugraha).
It teaches disciplined, reverent preparation in Shiva-upasana: correct form, color symbolism, and careful handling of a yantra cultivate one-pointed devotion to Īśvara, helping the bound soul (paśu) turn toward the Lord (Pati).
By prescribing a visible depiction (white Īśvara) and a drawn yantra, the text supports Saguna-focused worship—using form, symbol, and ritual order to stabilize the mind and direct bhakti toward Shiva, which in Shaiva Siddhanta becomes a means toward grace and liberation.
It suggests yantra-lekhana (drawing/inscribing a sacred diagram) with prescribed materials and then covering it with a red cloth, indicating secrecy, sanctity, and immediate ritual completion—typically accompanied by Shiva-mantra japa (such as the Panchakshara) during worship.
