प्रणवमहिमा — The Greatness of the Praṇava (Om) as Śiva
आधारो मणिपूरश्च हृदयं तु ततः परम् । विशुद्धिराज्ञा च ततः शक्तिः शान्तिरिति क्रमात्
ādhāro maṇipūraśca hṛdayaṃ tu tataḥ param | viśuddhirājñā ca tataḥ śaktiḥ śāntiriti kramāt
In due order come the Ādhāra (root center) and Maṇipūra; above them is the Heart; then in sequence Viśuddhi and Ājñā; and beyond these are Śakti and Śānti.
Lord Shiva (teaching the yogic-philosophical ascent in Kailāsasaṃhitā)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
It maps an inner, graded ascent of consciousness—from foundational supports (ādhāra) through progressively subtler centers—culminating in Śakti (the awakened divine power) and Śānti (the stillness of liberation), aligning yogic discipline with Shaiva realization of Pati (Shiva) beyond bonds.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana is both outer and inner: the external Linga anchors devotion (saguna-upāsanā), while this verse points to the internal Linga-like axis of ascent where the devotee’s awareness is refined step-by-step toward Shiva’s peace (śānti) through Śakti.
A sequential dhyāna (meditation) practice: steady the mind at the lower centers, raise awareness to heart, throat, and brow, and rest in the contemplation of Śakti leading to Śānti—supported by Shaiva japa such as the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and purity disciplines (e.g., bhasma/rudrākṣa where traditionally prescribed).
