Abandon the faults beginning with attachment (rāga) and become wholly devoted to meditation on Śiva. Keep company with those perfected in the true lineage (sat-sampradāya), and not with others.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Role: teaching
It teaches that liberation arises by removing inner impurities like attachment and by stabilizing the mind in Śiva-dhyāna, supported by satsanga with those established in an authentic Shaiva lineage.
Śiva-dhyāna is often practiced with a Saguna support such as the Śiva-liṅga; disciplined association with true practitioners protects one from distorted practices and keeps worship aligned with Śaiva dharma.
The core practice is sustained meditation on Śiva, ideally alongside mantra-japa (such as the Pañcākṣarī, "Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and guided by satsanga with realized teachers and sincere devotees.
