प्रवेशयामि शब्दान्ते भूर्भुवस्सुवरोमिति । उदीरयेत्परम्प्रीत्या निश्चलात्मा मुनीश्वर
praveśayāmi śabdānte bhūrbhuvassuvaromiti | udīrayetparamprītyā niścalātmā munīśvara
“At the end of the utterance ‘I insert,’ one should insert the sound ‘Oṃ’ after the vyāhṛtis ‘bhūḥ, bhuvaḥ, suvaḥ’. With supreme devotion, the sage—his mind unwavering—should pronounce it.”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra: (procedure) “praveśayāmi … oṃ” after “bhūḥ bhuvaḥ suvaḥ”; utter with supreme devotion (param-prītyā) and steady mind (niścalātmā).
Type: gayatri
Role: liberating
It teaches that sacred recitation becomes spiritually potent when joined with Oṁ and performed with unwavering attention (niścalatā) and loving devotion—key Shaiva means for inner purification and liberation.
While the verse is framed as a mantra-instruction, Shaiva practice treats Oṁ and the vyāhṛtis as supports for focusing the mind on Shiva as the indwelling Lord (Pati); such concentrated japa naturally matures into Linga-centered worship and contemplative absorption.
A japa-style recitation: chant “bhūr bhuvaḥ suvaḥ” and conclude by adding “Oṁ,” doing so with steady mind and heartfelt devotion—an instruction aligned with Shaiva yogic discipline and mantra-sādhana.
