Vāmadeva-mata: Rahasya-upadeśa
The Esoteric Teaching of Vāmadeva’s Doctrine
जीवा वयं तु ते वक्तुं सन्निधौ परमेशितुः । तथाप्यनुग्रहो यन्ते यत्त्वं वदसि मां प्रति
jīvā vayaṃ tu te vaktuṃ sannidhau parameśituḥ | tathāpyanugraho yante yattvaṃ vadasi māṃ prati
We are but finite jīva; in the very presence of the Supreme Lord, we are not truly fit to speak. Yet it is surely Your grace (anugraha) upon us that You address Your words to me.
A devotee/attendant in Kailasa (addressing a revered interlocutor in the presence of Parameśvara Shiva)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: liberating
It highlights the Shaiva Siddhanta principle that the bound soul (paśu) is limited and becomes worthy only through Shiva’s anugraha (grace), expressed here as humility in the presence of Parameśvara.
By emphasizing reverence in Shiva’s immediate presence, it supports Saguna worship—approaching Shiva as the personal Lord who bestows grace, the same grace sought through Linga-upasana and devotional prayer.
A practical takeaway is bhakti with humility—begin japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and offer worship with the attitude that all spiritual progress depends on Shiva’s anugraha.
