Strewn with slain elephants, foot soldiers, and horses, that battlefield appeared like the sporting ground of the angry, great-souled Rudra.
With the elephants, horses, and foot soldiers killed, the battlefield was like the ground where mighty Rudra sported in anger.
The battlefield, covered in dead soldiers and animals, is compared to the 'Akrida-bhoomi' (sporting ground) of an angry Lord Rudra (Shiva).
The battlefield was strewn with the carcasses of elephants (gaja), foot soldiers (padati), and horses (ashva) that had been slain in combat.
