इन्द्रजित्–लक्ष्मणयोर् घोरः शरयुद्धः (Indrajit and Lakshmana’s Fierce Exchange of Arrows)
चक्रतुस्तुमुलंघोरंसन्निपातंमुहुर्मुहुः ।।6.89.37।।इन्द्रजिल्लक्ष्मणश्चैवपरस्परवधैषिणौ ।
cakratus tumulaṃ ghoraṃ sannipātaṃ muhur muhuḥ |
indrajil lakṣmaṇaś caiva parasparavadhaiṣiṇau || 6.89.37 ||
Again and again, Indrajit and Lakṣmaṇa—each seeking the other’s destruction—brought about a tumultuous and dreadful clash in battle.
Indrajith and Lakshmana again and again carried out tumultuous and dreadful struggle.
The verse highlights the gravity of lethal intent: dharma requires that such intent be bound to a righteous cause and governed by the warrior’s code, not personal cruelty.
The duel escalates into repeated close engagements, with both combatants pressing for a decisive end.
Utsāha (martial drive) coupled with determination—sustained offensive spirit without hesitation.
