द्वन्द्वयुद्धप्रवृत्तिः (Dvandva-Yuddha: The Onset of Single Combats)
जम्बुमालीरथस्थस्तुरथशक्त्यामहाबलः ।बिबेदसमरेक्रुद्धोहनूमन्तंस्तनान्तरे ।।6.43.21।।
jambumālī rathasthas tu rathaśaktyā mahābalaḥ |
bibheda samare kruddho hanūmantaṃ stanāntare || 6.43.21 ||
Jambumālī, mighty and standing upon his chariot, enraged in battle, pierced Hanūmān in the chest with a javelin.
Jambumali of extraordinary might mounting on the chariot in the battle pierced Hanuman in his chest.
The verse highlights yuddha-dharma: warriors engage directly and accept the risks of combat. Hanūmān’s endurance under attack models steadfastness in righteous struggle.
In the Lanka battlefield, the rākṣasa Jambumālī attacks Hanūmān from his chariot and wounds him in the chest with a spear.
Hanūmān’s fortitude and fearlessness—remaining effective even after being struck—are implicitly emphasized.
