युद्धलक्षण-निमित्तदर्शनं तथा लङ्काद्वारव्यूहः (War Omens and the Encirclement of Lanka’s Gates)
ऋषीणांदेवतानांचगन्धर्वाप्सरसांतथा ।।6.41.62।।नागानामथयक्षाणांराज्ञांचरजनीचर ।यच्चपापंकृतंमोहादवलिप्तेनराक्षस ।।6.41.63।।नूनंतेविगतोदर्पःस्वयम्भुवरदानजः ।तस्यपापस्यसम्प्राप्ताव्युष्टिरद्यदुरसदा ।।6.41.64।।
nāgānām atha yakṣāṇāṃ rājñāṃ ca rajanīcara |
yac ca pāpaṃ kṛtaṃ mohād avaliptena rākṣasa ||6.41.63||
O night-roaming Rākṣasa! Whatever sin you committed—out of delusion and arrogant pride—against the Nāgas, the Yakṣas, and the kings: for that wrongdoing the time of requital has now drawn near.
"O night ranger! the time has come for punishment for the sins committed by you to the sages, Devatas, so also to Gandharvas, celestial beauties, Nagas, Yakshas and the kings because of your delusion in conceit. Surely your pride about the boons begotten from the selfborn creator will be gone, said Rama.
Adharma—harm done in arrogance and delusion—inevitably matures into consequences. The verse frames punishment as moral requital (karma-phala), reinforcing that power without righteousness cannot avert justice.
On the battlefield at Laṅkā, Rāma addresses Rāvaṇa directly, listing the classes of beings Rāvaṇa has wronged and declaring that the moment of accountability has arrived.
Rāma’s commitment to dharma as moral order: he positions the coming punishment not as personal rage alone but as the restoration of justice for injuries done to many.
