Shloka 6.24.13

लङ्कानिरीक्षणं व्यूहविन्यासश्च (Survey of Lanka and Deployment of the Battle Formation)

इतिदाशरथीरामोलक्ष्मणंसमभाषत ।बलंचतद्वैविभजन् शास्त्रदृष्टेनकर्मणा ।।।।

iti dāśarathī rāmo lakṣmaṇaṃ samabhāṣata | balaṃ ca tad vai vibhajan śāstradṛṣṭena karmaṇā ||6.24.13||

Thus did Rāma, son of Daśaratha, speak to Lakṣmaṇa; and then, in keeping with the methods taught in the śāstras, he proceeded to divide and marshal that army for its duties.

Dasaratha's son Rama thus talked to Lakshmana in that manner and asked to divide the task of the army in accordance with what is said in sastras.

Righteous action is disciplined action: even in war, Rāma follows śāstric order and proper procedure, showing that means matter as much as ends.
