Taking Vaidehī—illustrious and shy—into his arms, and with his brother Lakṣmaṇa, the valiant bearer of the bow, Rāma prepared to depart in the aerial car.
Illustrious Sita who was feeling shy, seeing the monkeys and valiant archer Lakshmana took Sita in his arms to Pushpaka.
Dharma is protective care joined with modesty: Sītā’s dignity is preserved while Rāma assumes the role of protector and rightful husband.
As departure nears, Sītā—bashful before the gathered hosts—is taken close by Rāma, with Lakṣmaṇa accompanying.
Sītā’s modesty and Rāma’s tenderness and protection, supported by Lakṣmaṇa’s steadfast guardianship.
