इन्द्रवरदानम् / Indra Grants Boons: Restoration of the Vanara Host

मत्प्रियेष्वभिरक्ताश्च न मृत्युंगणयन्तिये ।त्वत्प्रसादात्समेयुस्तेवरमेतमहंवृणे ।।।।

matpriyeṣv abhiraktāś ca na mṛtyuṃ gaṇayanti ye |

Those who were devoted to what is dear to me and who did not reckon with death—by your grace may they return. This is the boon I choose.

"They were fond of doing and not counted death. I seek your grace to give a boon to relieve all of them from death."

Dharma is the leader’s duty to protect and honor those who act selflessly for a righteous cause; Rāma seeks not personal gain but the restoration of his devoted supporters.

Rāma formally chooses a boon from Indra: that the devoted warriors who fell in battle be restored.

Selflessness and gratitude—Rāma uses divine favor to benefit others rather than himself.
