दशरथदर्शनम् — Dasharatha’s Epiphany and Benedictions (Sarga 122)
इत्युक्त्वालक्ष्मणंराजास्नुषांबद्धाञ्जलिंस्थिताम् ।पुत्रीत्याभाष्यमधुरंशनैरेनामुवाच ह ।।।।
ity uktvā lakṣmaṇaṃ rājā snuṣāṃ baddhāñjaliṃ sthitām | putrīti ābhāṣya madhuraṃ śanair enām uvāca ha ||
Having thus spoken to Lakṣmaṇa, the king then addressed his daughter-in-law, who stood with joined palms; calling her “Daughter,” he spoke to her gently and sweetly.
Having spoken like that to Lakshmana, looking at the daughter in law standing there with folded palms, Dasaratha addressed her saying," Daughter", gently and sweetly and said.
Maryādā (propriety) in speech: elders counsel with gentleness and respect, especially when addressing one who stands in humility and reverence.
After finishing his words to Lakṣmaṇa, Daśaratha turns to Sītā—standing with folded hands—and begins a tender, instructive address.
