Shloka 6.120.1

रामस्तवः — ब्रह्मणा रामस्य नारायणत्वप्रकाशनम् (Rama-Stava: Brahma Reveals Rama’s Nārāyaṇa Identity)

ततोहिदुर्मनाराम्श्रुत्वैवंवदतांगिरः ।दध्यौमुहूर्तंधर्मात्माबाष्पव्याकुललोचनः ।।।।

tato hi durmanā rāmaḥ śrutvaivaṃ vadatāṃ giraḥ | dadhyau muhūrtaṃ dharmātmā bāṣpavyākulalocanaḥ ||6.120.1||

Then righteous-souled Rāma, distressed on hearing the people speak thus, paused for a moment—his eyes troubled and clouded with tears.

Then righteous Rama, hearing the wailing of the people, whose eyes were dimmed with tears, remained for a moment.

Dharma is joined with karuṇā (compassion): even a victorious, duty-bound leader remains sensitive to the suffering and voices of the people.

After hearing public lamentation, Rāma momentarily stops, overwhelmed with emotion.
